A team of 27 doctors successfully separated conjoined Iraqi twins Ali and Omar.

The team includes consultants, specialists, nurses and medical staff from the King Abdullah Special Children’s Hospital in Riyadh.

This operation was carried out based on the instructions of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The head of the medical team, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Rabee’, said earlier that the operation is expected to take place in six stages and last up to 11 hours.

He estimated the success rate at 70 percent because the twins are conjoined at the lower chest and abdomen and share the same liver, bile ducts, and intestines.
