A massive 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit west-central Mexico on the day the country marked the anniversary of two major earthquakes in 1985 and 2017.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said Monday evening after receiving a report from the Navy Ministry that a wall collapsed at a shopping center in Manzanillo, a beach resort in the western state of Colima, killing one person.

The president held talks with the governors of the states most affected by the earthquake at 1.05pm on Monday, particularly Colima and Michoacán, while parts of the capital Mexico City also felt tremors, Xinhua news agency reported.
