8,000 policemen to provide security for Pak-England matches: IG ShahkarTAZAA News

State guest security will be provided to all players, ICC officials and other foreign personnel during the Pakistan-England cricket series, Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Faisal Shahkar has issued the following statement.
The Inspector General of Punjab has ordered foolproof security and traffic management arrangements for the last three T20 matches at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

IG Shahkar said, “More than 8,000 officers and staff will handle security duties during matches, 24-hour monitoring of teams’ routes, hotels and inside and outside Gaddafi Stadium through secure city cameras.

Besides, IG Punjab directed Special Branch and CTD to take special measures for peaceful conduct of cricket. Besides, CTO Lahore has been given special task to maintain traffic flow during the matches and additional wardens and staff should be appointed to manage traffic flow.

IG Shocker directed to make best arrangements with the district administration for parking facilities and transport to the stadium for cricket fans. The IG suggested that the safety and comfort of fans coming from other cities to watch cricket matches should be kept in mind and that the transport in the vicinity of hotels, stadiums and routes should not be closed unnecessarily.

He promised to continue the search, sweep, combing and surveillance based operations in the vicinity of the hotel and stadium by stepping up the countermeasures.

According to information shared by Lahore Police, police authorities in Lahore have completed its preparations regarding the conduct of Pakistan England Cricket Series in Lahore and in this regard a review meeting was held at Safe City Authority under the chairmanship of IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar.
