An earthquake was felt in Manipur with a magnitude of 4.0 sqf mgbTAZAA News

Earthquake was felt in Ukhruli, Manipur on Saturday. According to the National Seismological Center, the earthquake was felt at around 06:14:55. The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 4.0 on the reactor scale. The National Center of Seismology has not confirmed the loss of life and property due to the earthquake.

Earlier on January 31 this year, a wave of fear spread in Manipur due to a severe earthquake in the morning. People got scared and left their houses. The magnitude of this earthquake was recorded at 4.5 degrees according to the reactor scale. The National Center of Seismology said that the earthquake was felt in Kumjong region of the state. It was also reported that the earthquake was felt at 10:20. The epicenter of the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 67 kilometers.

How do earthquakes occur?
The main cause of earthquakes is the collision of the plates inside the earth. There are seven plates inside the Earth that are constantly rotating. When these plates collide at a point, a fault line zone is created and the edges of the surface rotate. Due to the bending of the edges of the surface, the pressure increases there and the plates break. When these plates break, the energy inside finds a way out, causing the earth to shake and cause what we call earthquakes.

Similarly, earthquakes of magnitude 2.0 to 2.9 are placed in the lower category. 1,000 such earthquakes happen every day and we usually don’t feel them. Earthquakes of the very light category are between 3.0 and 3.9 degrees and are registered 49,000 times a year. They are felt but do not cause any harm.
