London (Daily Pakistan Online) An Indian-born man accused of murdering his father by hitting him on the head with a champagne bottle in north London has been sentenced to life in prison.
According to the Press Trust of India, Deacon Pal Singh Vigi, 54, pleaded guilty after a hearing at the Old Bailey last month and faces a minimum of 18 years in prison before being considered for parole at the same court on Friday.
Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector Wayne Jolly, who led the murder investigation, said: “The actions of Deacon Paul Singh Vig have devastated his family and he will spend a significant amount of time in prison as a result of his actions.”
Arjun Singh Vig, Deacon Paul’s 86-year-old father, was living at their home in Southgate, north London, when police were called in October 2021, the Met Police said. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Arjun Singh died at the scene. The post-mortem report indicated the cause of death as a head injury.
According to the police officers who reached the spot, Arjun Singh was lying unconscious in his son Deccan’s bedroom with a head injury and Deccan Pal was standing naked and around 100 bottles of champagne and there was blood among them. in a bottle.
