ROME (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – February 05, 2023) Italian anarchists staged protests in Milan and Rome, resulting in clashes with the police, Italian media reported.
Around 200 protesters gathered outside Milan’s Opera prison on Saturday to demand the release of anarchist Alfredo Cospito, who has been on hunger strike for months, Rai News 24 TV channel reported.
After the protesters threw stones and smoke grenades at the prison, law enforcement authorities responded to them.
Another unauthorized demonstration took place in Rome on Saturday. Italian police said about 800 people gathered in the capital and tried to build barriers to block one of the major highways. The protest ended in clashes with the police. At least two demonstrators were injured.
According to Rai News 24, three people were arrested.
