KARACHI: CAA clarification on Wi-Fi and baggage handling of passengers at Islamabad International Airport has been issued.

In this regard, the spokesperson of the Department of Civil Aviation says that the free Wi-Fi network at the Islamabad airport is available in all parts of the passenger terminal building.

Passengers with registered code will be checked in automatically through the web portal, but passengers with unregistered code and foreign code will be checked in through the Civil Aviation Information Center (PTA) as per the procedure prescribed by the Civil Aviation Information Center, the spokesperson said. the facility will be provided as soon as possible.

Civil Aviation technical team provides uninterrupted Wi-Fi 24 hours a day, but sometimes the services may be affected due to problems behind the service provider or large number of simultaneous users.

In addition, Civil Aviation is continuing its efforts to solve problems and improve the quality of services in the light of customer complaints.

According to the spokesperson, the goods are delivered to the passengers on time at the Islamabad airport as per the established criteria/standards related to the delivery of passenger baggage.

In a follow-up statement, a CAA spokesperson said the maximum baggage handling time for a flight with 600 to 700 bags is 50 to 60 minutes.

But in rare cases, such as during Umrah flights, where the number of different pieces of luggage is usually more than 800, the delivery time may exceed one hour.

Islamabad International Airport also has an integrated system monitoring mechanism for airlines/airlines to penalize the airline/GHA for overtime.
