ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – 01st Feb, 2023) The excitement of the World Rally Championship (W2RC) continues with the 32nd edition of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge heading to the heart of the UAE capital (ADDC) on February 25. .

Long-time organizers of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, the Emirates Motorsports Organization (EMSO) have brought the ADDC to the inaugural W2RC season in 2022 and are delighted to present a new version of the event to the rally-raid community this year.

Khalid Bin Sulayem, President of EMSO, commented, “Despite only entering its second season, the World Rally Championship has already surpassed its peers and represents the highest level of sport.

“The coming together of the FIA and the FIM for the first time to create this championship was an exciting time in the world of rallying and we are delighted to be part of that story.”

This year’s ADDC will be the toughest yet as EMSO raises the stakes. Competitors will travel an even longer distance, covering 237 kilometers more than in 2022 with a total of 2,170 kilometers.

The intense route will take the competitors away from the HQ, which will be located in the heart of the vibrant city of Abu Dhabi, closer to the people, where everyone in attendance can feel the beating heart of the Middle East.

Among these competitors will be the lucky winners of “Road to Dakar”. Organized by ASO as part of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, the Road to Dakar is open to rookies in both FIM Rally 2 and FIA SSV T4. The winning competitors from these categories will be rewarded with a free entry in the same category in the Dakar Rally in 2024, as ASO and EMSO strive to encourage young talents in the sport.

While Nasser Al-Attiyah is the Dakar champion again this year, it is Sébastien Loeb who leads the W2RC provisional standings by 2 points. On the bikes, Kevin Benavides made a comeback after a zero in Dakar last season to top the championship standings as the challengers now head to Abu Dhabi.
