KARACHI: Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Law and Order Committee (Sindh Region) organized an awareness session on child abuse & mental health issues to raise its vital importance in the society at FPCCI headquarters here on Tuesday.
The Chief Guest for the event was Consul General of the United Arab Emirates Bukheet Ateeq Al-Romanti and Senior Superintendent of Police Suhai Aziz was the Guest of Honour.
Dr. Arsad Saleem, Chief Operating Officer, Hamdard Laboratories, said in the program that the cases of child abuse are increasing significantly in the society and it is not only destroying the lives of the victims but also their parents, so it should be brought to everyone’s attention. Parents should always keep their eyes on their children as this is their main responsibility.
The guest of honor SSP Suhai Aziz said that the Child Rights Act has been completed and corporal punishment has been approved by the Ministry of Justice and the culprits will be put behind bars and punished. I am collaborating with human rights activist organizations to prevent society from heinous crimes.
Due to lack of education we are still facing cases of child abuse in our society. Our senior leadership, including our Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon, is working with the civil
Society and CPLC have donated “Zainab Alert” app to report such incidents.
Reema Aziz shared her experience of caring for abused child victims, which shocked the audience that most abusers have the common 3W’s of being well educated, well off and well settled.
