It is to be noted that the Lahore High Court has issued a precautionary order on the petitions not to set the date for the Punjab Assembly elections, according to which the Election Commission has been ordered to announce the elections in Punjab.
In his judgment, Justice Jawad Hasan wrote that the court accepts the plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Election Commission of Pakistan should announce the elections in Punjab within the time frame prescribed by the Constitution.
