Lahore: Merchandise worth crores of rupees were gutted in a fire at a makeshift furniture market located near Shalimar Bagh.

According to Express News, 52 shops and makeshift shops were completely destroyed and 6 houses were damaged due to fire in a temporary furniture market near Shalimar Bagh area of ​​Lahore.

According to rescue sources, the fire incident occurred in a warehouse in front of Shalimar Bagh, which was caused by a short circuit in the cables passing nearby due to rain. As a result of the fire, the electricity transmission was stopped, and the fire also covered the electric wires, but the rescue team is engaged in extinguishing the fire.

A shopkeeper expressed his regret at the scene and said that the savings of a lifetime were burnt to ashes, poured into the streets in a few moments, while thousands of market workers remained unemployed.
