Former state minister Sanjay Deshmukh will tie Shivbandhan; Shiv Sena’s ploy to defeat Minister Sanjay Rathore TAZAA News

The party leaders have played the game of bringing former state minister Sanjay Deshmukh to the Shiv Sena to support the incumbent minister Sanjay Rathod from the Shinde group in the Digras assembly constituency. There is talk in the political circles that Sanjay Deshmukh will soon tie the Shivbandhan. On Sunday, Deshmukh met Shiv Sena leader MP Arvind Sawant in Akola and held talks, which is said to have sealed his entry into the Shiv Sena party.

Shivsenen’s move to activate Sanjay Deshmukh in Digras constituency

Deshmukh is originally a Shiv Sainik. He has worked in the party as the district chief of Shiv Sena. In 1999, after being denied a ticket by the party, he contested as an independent and became an MLA defeating NCP’s Khawaja Baig by just 125 votes. At the same time Deshmukh became the Minister of State by supporting the government of Vilasrao Deshmukh by tying the knot of independents. He was also elected as an independent in 2004. In 2009, Minister of State Sanjay Deshmukh retired from politics after Rathod won the Digras assembly constituency. However, now that Rathod has joined the Shinde group of Shiv Sena, Shiv Sena has started activities to activate Deshmukh in Digras constituency to defeat him.

Deshmukh led the Digras constituency for 10 years

Deshmukh has led the Digras constituency for 10 years from 1999 to 2009. Interestingly, both times he won as an independent. Every time Deshmukhs have shown their strength in places like Municipalities, Panchayat Samiti, Market Committee, Buying and Selling Union in Digras. In the 2019 assembly elections, Deshmukh fought as an independent against Rathod and reduced Rathod’s lead by 75,000 votes. Before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he quit the Congress and joined the BJP. On this occasion, he joined the BJP in Digras in the presence of former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. After that, he left the BJP and took an independent stance and contested the election as an independent. His journey will be Shiv Sena, Congress, BJP and now Shiv Sena again.

Deshmukh likely to tie Shivbandhan soon

While Rathod has the support of the Banjara community, there are moves by the Shiv Sena to field Deshmukh on the Maratha, Kunbi card in the constituency. Sanjay Deshmukh’s discussions with party chief Uddhav Thackeray and MP Arvind Sawant regarding Shiv Sena’s entry have prompted his supporters to express the possibility of forming a Shivbandhan soon.
