Hawaja Asif says that the president does not have the authority to announce the date of the electionTAZAA News

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on Monday that President Arif Alvi is violating his constitutional authority by giving the election date.

Speaking to the media, he said that the country will settle the terms with the International Monetary Fund and therefore the country will avoid default. Mr. Asif contradicted his earlier claim, in which he admitted that the country was already in default.

The minister added that the government has suppressed the slums of the poor people while the other half is enjoying a life of luxury. He pointed out that the golf club was leased for Rs 4000 from 1400 Kanal on Mall Road in the context of deteriorating economic situation in the country.
