Taking cognizance of a video that went viral on social media showing kabaddi players’ food being kept in the toilet, the Uttar Pradesh government has suspended the District Sports Officer for laxity. Additional Chief Secretary (Sports) Navneet Sehgal said on Tuesday that Saharanpur District Sports Officer Animesh Saxena has been suspended on Monday.

A girls’ sub-junior kabaddi competition was organized from 16 to 19 September at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Stadium in Saharanpur, in which more than 300 girls from 16 divisions of the state participated. Saharanpur District Magistrate Akhilesh Singh said on Tuesday that Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Rajnish Kumar Mishra has been asked to probe the incident and will submit his report in three days.
