After the dissolution of assemblies in Punjab and KP, general elections will be held there, but there is a technical problem in holding it and in this context these elections may be postponed.
According to information obtained by ARY News from government sources, despite the dissolution of assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, there is a technical problem in holding general elections within the scheduled 90 days and this problem is population. It is not possible to conduct a new census in less than 90 days, so in these provinces elections should be held based on the old census.
Sources said the census should be conducted even before the Balochistan, Sindh and National Assembly elections. All parties except PTI want general elections to be held only after fresh census. If this does not happen, there will be many protests after the election results are announced.
Government sources also said that after the new census, electoral constituencies will be formed based on it. General elections are possible only after overcoming objections to new constituencies.
Internal government sources said there is a national possibility that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab general elections may also be postponed on the same basis.
