KARACHI: In the second match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 8, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Karachi Kings by 2 runs after a thrilling encounter.
In the match played at National Stadium Karachi, Karachi Kings won the toss and invited Peshawar Zalmi to bat, scoring 199 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Cudmore’s Tom Koehler played a brilliant innings of 92 runs off just 50 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 7 fours.
Peshawar captain Zalmi Babar Azam scored 68 runs from 46 balls with the help of 1 six and 7 fours, with Mohammad Haris 10, Saim Ayyub 1, Bhanuka Rajapaksa 6, Jamie Neesham 16 and Shakib Al Hasan 1 among others.
Andrew Tye was the most successful bowler for Karachi Kings taking 1 wicket for 32 runs in 4 overs, Mir Hamza, Imran Tahir and Ben Cutting also got one wicket apiece.
Chasing the target, Karachi Kings managed to score 197 runs for 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, not helped by Imad Wasim’s excellent 80 runs. Imad Wasim scored 80 runs off 47 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 7 fours and Shoaib Malik scored 52 runs off 34 balls while Matthew Wade scored 23 runs, Hyder Ali 12, Qasim Akram 7 and Ben Cutting 9.
Jamie Neesham was the most successful bowler for Peshawar Zalmi who took 2 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs and Wahab Riyaz took 2 wickets and Salman Irshad denied one wicket.
Notably, Karachi Kings were led by Imad Wasim and other players included Sharjeel Khan, Haider Ali, Shoaib Malik, Matthew Wade, Qasim Akram, Ben Cutting, Andrew Tye, Mohammad Amir, Imran Tahir and Mir Hamza.
Peshawar Zalmi was led by Babar Azam and other players included Mohammad Haris, Saim Ayyub, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Tom Koehler Kadmore, Shakib Al Hasan, Jamie Neesham, Wahab Riaz, Salman Irshad, Sufyan Muqim and Khurram Shahzad.
