The body of former president Pervez Musharraf was moved from the old terminal of the Karachi airport to Malir Cantt.
The funeral service for the former president will be held today, Tuesday, February 7, at 1:45 p.m. at the Miller Kent Polo Grounds. Pervez Musharraf will be buried in the military cemetery of Karachi.
Earlier, the body of the former president was brought to Pakistan by Khaki MLM 567. Parviz Musharraf’s body along with his wife, daughter and son also arrived home.
It is worth mentioning that the former commander of the Pakistani army and President Syed Pervez Musharraf died on Sunday morning, February 5, after a long illness in a hospital in Dubai. He was 79 years old.
His coffin was taken to Malir Cantt United Military Hospital surrounded by a strong contingent of military police. Although the authorities have not released a statement about his burial, a close aide said that the burial of General Pervez Musharraf will be carried out with full state and military protocols.
Tahir Hussain, Musharraf’s spokesman since the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was founded in Karachi in October 2010 by the former ruler, said he would be buried in a military cemetery with full military honors and official protocol.
Hours before the plane landed, military police along with Pakistan Rangers cordoned off the old terminal of the Karachi airport, while tight security was also observed on all roads leading to Malir Cantt.
Yesterday, the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai issued an NOC to repatriate the body of the former military ruler.
