The participants of the session were informed in detail about the pace of work on the implementation of solar and wind energy projects and the delays due to various reasons.

It was also said at the meeting that in addition to the current renewable energy projects of 10,000 megawatts, other renewable energy projects of 6,000 megawatts can also be considered for the generation of environmentally friendly and cost-effective energy.

Federal Ministers Ishaq Dar, Khurram Dastgir, Ahsan Iqbal, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Zanzeb Khan, Advisor Ahad Cheema and relevant officials took part in the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif emphasized that the latest government has not completed the solar and wind energy projects started by the former Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) government. He observed that “220 million people of Pakistan have suffered due to the criminal negligence and incompetence of the last government”, adding that work on 10,000 megawatt solar power projects was going on at a fast pace under the current government. He directed the government agencies to come up with a strategy for the full use of solar and wind resources immediately, as they will help save precious currencies spent on expensive fuel imports. He assured that all obstacles in the way of renewable energy projects will be removed
