Hafiz Usman, the spokesman of former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, rejected the resignation of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and called this news baseless.
Speaking exclusively to New Era, Hafiz Usman’s spokesperson strongly denied the resignation reports and said the former prime minister has not resigned from party membership or party status. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is the senior vice-chairman of this party and the news of his resignation is baseless. The speaker raised the question that when Abbasi did not leave the party during the most difficult period, why is he leaving now?
He said that we won the elections in 1998 as an independent and joined the Muslim League. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi made life difficult in 1999 during the time of Parviz Musharraf. He was in prison, but he did not deviate from his mission. Nawaz Sharif made Shahid Khaqan Abbasi the prime minister and as the prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Nawaz Sharif is my leader.
He further said that Shaheed Khaqan Abbasi is with PML-N and senior vice president of the party. He is with party leader Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. And we are with the party as before.
Earlier, a private channel reported that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi resigned from the position of senior vice president of Muslim League-N. He said that if the party leaves him, he prefers to go home.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that three years ago he had clearly told Nawaz Sharif that if Maryam Nawaz was brought to a high position in the party, he would not have a chance to stay in this party.
