Saskatoon Meewasin by-election – Early voting begins in Saskatoon TAZAA News

Voters in the Saskatchewan constituency of Saskatoon Meewasin will go to the by-election polls early in September. Can be held from 20-24 from noon to 8 pm.

Advance voting stations are at the YWCA at 510 25 St. E., the Saskatoon Mewasin Returning Office at 616 Dutchess St. and the Rusty MacDonald Branch Library at 225 Primrose Dr.

Elections Saskatchewan says there are 12,292 registered voters in the region.

“Advance voting continues to be a convenient option for many voters,” said Saskatchewan Chief Electoral Officer Michael Boda.

“In fact, in the 2020 general election in Saskatoon Meewasin, 44 percent of the 7,221 ballots cast in five days of early voting. This option is open to any voter in Saskatoon Meewasin and our election officials in Saskatoon are sure to be ready this week.

Elections Saskatchewan received 270 votes through mail applications, with 63 votes returned so far through mail ballots.

Workers will also use technology as part of Boda’s modernization programme, he said.

“For the first time in a provincial electoral event, advance voting workers will use laptops instead of paper materials to do their work. The change will provide faster service to voters, improved work experience for election workers and real-time data for registered political parties and candidates.

To vote in this by-election, one must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years of age, have lived in Saskatchewan for at least six months, and be a resident of the Saskatoon Meawacin constituency.
