In India, a herd of cows was crushed under a train, killing 11 cows and injuring several others.
In the Sambhal district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, farmers were worried about stray cattle and drove the herd of cows to the railway.
According to Indian media reports, when the Dehradun High Speed Express reached there, a herd of two dozen stray animals ran on the railway track, crushing 11 cows and seriously injuring many others.
The train was stopped after it hit a herd of cows and could be dispatched an hour later. Local residents said that cows are destroying the standing crops in the fields near Moradabad railway station, Aligarh. Apparently, the farmers got angry and drove these cows towards the railway tracks.
A local person told the media that more than 12 such incidents have occurred in the area in the last two months.
