The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has started day-long celebrations on the occasion of its foundation day on February 22, 24NewsHD TV channel reports.
The history of “Establishment Day” goes back three centuries, when the first state of Saudi Arabia was founded in 1727 under the leadership of Imam Muhammad bin Saud.
It is a new annual holiday commemorating the establishment of the first Saudi state in Arabia.
In February 1727, bin Saud inherited the leadership of the central Arabian city of Diriya, founded by his ancestors in the 15th century.
On the first day of the establishment, celebrations began in all major cities, including Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. In the historic area of Al-Diriya, the celebration began with a caravan of Arab horses and camels, in which scouts and security personnel of Haramain Sharif, including police and military forces, took part in the parade.
At the same time, a large number of domestic and foreign citizens participated in this parade.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz said that we have restored stability, justice and fairness and harmony among the people throughout the history of three centuries.
Events are taking place across the country and the capital city of Riyadh will also enjoy its festivities as the city’s towers are already lit up with green lights in preparation for the holiday.
The Foundation Day celebrations will continue for the next four days, with air shows and entertainment and cultural events all over the city, and the tallest buildings across the country will also be decorated.
History depicted through art is one way that Foundation Day is celebrated. People can enjoy a musical performance based on Arabic poetry that shows the history and splendor of Saudi Arabia from its founding to the present day.
Theater stars and singers will take part in the performance from February 22 to 27 at the conference center of Princess Noura University in Riyadh.
The history and values of KSA’s Foundation Day are showcased during a procession that includes horse processions and large artistic sculptures. The procession, which will be held on Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Al-Awwal Road in Riyadh, will tell the story of the Kingdom’s connection, development and courage.
The march will be held on Friday, February 24. Attendees can enjoy food and snacks at the event before the show begins, and the public is encouraged to stick around to enjoy the fireworks display.
From Wednesday to Friday, the King Fahad National Library will host a series of events that will introduce visitors to the cultural heritage of the first state of Saudi Arabia through seminars, meetings and workshops.
Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District will witness cultural events that will take visitors back three centuries and give them the opportunity to revisit history through the creation of popular markets, displays of traditional Saudi clothing, in addition to interactive exhibitions and historical displays.
