Federal Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar said that negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are progressing. Today will bring good news.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar told the media that today the final round with the IMF continues. He gives good news about negotiations with them.

Ishaq Dar added that there is time for negotiations with the IMF until 12 o’clock at night. Negotiations today, as always, will be in the same direction with the IMF.

It should be said that today is the last day of negotiations between the IMF and Pakistan. The final round of policy-level negotiations continues today. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar leads the economic team on behalf of Pakistan, while Nathan Porter heads the IMF mission.

According to sources, the draft Mutual Economic and Fiscal Policy (MEFP) will be finalized today. There is a strong possibility that the deal will be done today. The talks will discuss reforms in the energy sector and the elimination of revolving credit, while the IMF will also be briefed by Pakistani authorities on proposed tax measures.

Finance Minister Ayisha Ghos Pasha says that the decisions made during the negotiations have been approved by the Prime Minister. Pakistan needs an agreement with the IMF.

Pakistan is seeking a $1 billion tranche of a $7 billion loan in 2019.
