Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the OIC should immediately convene an emergency meeting to discuss and decide on the package of emergency aid for the people of Turkey.

In a special interview with Anadolu Agency, he also called on the international community to contribute to the revival of the Turkish people. He emphasized that we should do everything we can for the happiness of the Turkish people.

The Prime Minister said that the people of Turkey collected nearly six billion dollars through an aid campaign that was broadcast on Turkish TV channels, calling it an outstanding example of generosity, benevolence, kindness and respect. He said that the people of Turkey are highly respected not only by the people of Pakistan but all over the world.

Affirming Pakistan’s solidarity and full support to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey, the Prime Minister said that he will meet with the tent manufacturers and oblige them to prepare winter tents of high quality as soon as possible.

He hoped that by the end of this month we will send about thirteen thousand tons of aid. In March, another 1700 tons and in April about 600 tons of auxiliary cargo will be sent, most of which will be winter tents.

Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan and Turkey are like two souls and one heart, and he recalled that when he heard the news of the earthquake, he immediately called Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of the Republic of Turkey, to offer his condolences and help. The devastation is beyond imagination. This is a great loss. So no amount of help will be enough.

The prime minister said that Pakistan has so far been able to deliver more than five hundred tons of relief goods for the Turkish brothers, especially those affected by the earthquake in the south of Turkey, in the form of tents, blankets and other relief materials in winter. as well as rescue and medical teams. He said that our rescue team managed to rescue at least fourteen people from the rubble.

Shehbaz Sharif Pakistan and Turkey are like a family and our hearts beat together. We live and die together. He said that this is a unique relationship and Pakistan will stand by Turkey in this difficult hour.

He recalled that whenever Pakistan needed help, Turkey went an extra mile to help its brothers and sisters, whether it was the 2005 earthquake, the 2010 flood or last year’s flood in Pakistan.
