The Supreme Court has become serious about hate speech on TV channels. While there is freedom of expression, it has made it clear that hate speech will not be tolerated. She concluded that it is the responsibility of TV anchors to stop such things. On this occasion, the Supreme Court reminded that if hate speeches are broadcast abroad, fines will be imposed and the broadcasts will be stopped. The Supreme Court opined that strict regulation is necessary to curb such speech.

In this matter, the Center has suggested to help the court instead of acting as a defendant. The case was adjourned to November 23 for further hearing. By then, the court directed the Center to give its stand on the Law Commission’s suggestions on curbing hate speech.
