The number of dangerous buildings in Joshi Math is constantly increasing. Another 45 buildings were designated on Tuesday.

Despite the administration’s order at Joshi Mutt in the wake of incidents of land subsidence, the demolition of buildings did not begin on Tuesday. When the district administration team came with Lavalshakar to demolish the buildings, the affected people protested. In this case, the demolition process has been postponed until Wednesday. Chaos reigned throughout the day.

The Mauteview and Mallari Inn hotels were to be demolished in Joshimouth on Tuesday, but the hotel owners started protesting against the move. He said that the financial responsibility was not done and not even a warning was given. As the opposition grew, the administration was forced to retreat. But officials say something else. Disaster Management Secretary Dr Ranjit Sinha said cranes are needed to demolish tall buildings which are not available there. Therefore, a crane has been dispatched from Dehradun which will reach there on Wednesday.

There, Chief Minister Meenakshi Sundaram said that the CBRI team reached the spot late, so the demolition work could not be started on the first day. On the other hand, Chief Secretary Dr SS Sindhu held a meeting of the officers on Tuesday and directed to prioritize the buildings which have again reached dangerous condition. He said that there should not be any building that causes loss of life and property by living in it.

The number of dangerous buildings in Joshi Math is constantly increasing. Another 45 buildings were designated on Tuesday. A total of 723 buildings have been designated in this way to date. Out of these 86 buildings have received a red mark as absolutely dangerous.
