MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – February 06, 2023) Kyiv has asked Israel to openly condemn Russia’s special military operations in Ukraine and to defend Ukraine’s territorial integrity, Israeli media reported.

The “Times of Israel” newspaper said on Sunday, based on the report of the Walla news website, that this request was made before the planned visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Eli Cohen, to Kyiv.

In addition, Kyiv has asked Israel to approve a $500 million loan to Ukraine and treat “hundreds of wounded soldiers and civilians,” the report said, citing Israeli and Ukrainian officials.

A Ukrainian official said that a possible meeting between Cohen and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky depends on Israel’s willingness to meet Kyiv’s demands.

According to The Times of Israel, in January, Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen had a telephone conversation with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and accepted an invitation to visit Kyiv.

Cohen will become the highest-ranking Israeli official to visit Kyiv since Russia began military operations in Ukraine in February 2022, Israeli and Ukrainian officials told the newspaper.
