Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has notified a 113% increase in gas prices, which will be applicable only for the month of January.

After the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) increased the price of petroleum products by 16% to 113%, domestic consumers who consume 25 cubic meters of gas per month were exempted from the increase.

The notification states that the gas tariff for two categories of household consumers has been reduced by 16 and 33 percent. The new gas prices announced by OGRA will be effective from January 1 to June 30, 2023.

According to the Ogra notification, domestic consumers are divided into protected and unprotected categories. The announcement states that 4 slabs of the protected category have been established, and consumers of 25 cubic meters per month and 50 cubic meters, 60 cubic meters and 90 cubic meters per month have also been included in the protected category.

According to Alamia, gas for various sectors, including household consumers, has been increased from 16 to 113 percent. The increase came on the recommendation of the petroleum department, with domestic consumers divided into 12 protected and unprotected categories. The fixed charge has been increased by Rs 50 for protected customers and Rs 500 for unprotected customers.

According to the notice, household consumers who consume 25 cubic meters of gas per month were given a discount, and the gas tariff of 2 categories of household protection consumers was reduced by 16 and 33 percent.

Gas price for commercial consumers increased by 28.6%, new price Rs.1650, while gas price for power sector increased by 22.8%, new price is Rs.1050, gas price for industry increased by 34%, new price for gas sector became Rs.1100 , after a 31% increase in the price of gas. The new price is 1800 rupees. Thus, the price of gas for fertilizers has increased by 46%. the new price is 1500 soums. Gas for the cement sector is 17.46 percent more expensive, the new price is 1500 soums.
